2 Types of Measures Nominal –lowest level of measurement. The nominal level measurement places people, objects, and things into categories. These categories must be mutually exclusive. These categories must be exhaustive. Examples include: sex (females and males) and race (Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, Mixed Race, Native American)

3 Ordinal level – ranks scores based upon some raw score. Even though the difference between adjacent scores appear to be equal in rank scores, in fact they may not be equal. 4 Interval score- a score where the distance between adjacent points is equal. Interval scores allow adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Interval scores have no true zero point. Examples of interval measures are: blood pressure, heart rate, and reaction time.

5 Ratio score – is a measure that has equal distance between adjacent points. The ratio score has a true zero point. For example, scoring in basketball, knowledge tests (0-100)
