16. HISTORY About 1850 to now, Turceni is an important center of economic, agriculture and commercial life. The first document about this city was written in 1499. Since 15 may 2004, on presence of Parliament, Government, Prefecture and Consul of Targu Jiu, they declared Turceni a city.
