INTRODUCTION We are going to read a story titled COUNT! In this story we are going to count animals.

What are some of the things that we can count in our classroom? Counting is to find the total number of objects. I am going to read a book titled COUNT! Let’s take a picture walk. What did you see in the book?

As I read COUNT!.... I will stop to practice counting. I will first model counting by pointing to the animals on each page Then as I read I will allow students to count. Who can count the fish?

After reading I will ask children to retell the story and ask them these questions. 1.How many crocodiles? 2.How many zebras? 3.How many giraffes? How many worms?.

.I will give a paper and crayon to children to draw their favorite animal from the story. I will give children a paper to trace numbers from 1 to 10. Children will watch a video on counting numbers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmqY_lhVVvs

TEACHER’S NOTE This is how I plan to implement the lesson : Day one- read aloud to the whole group. Then later read to small group. Day two do the after reading activity. Day three do the beyond reading. we do not have a computer with internet access.
