Lakes and Ponds By: Troy Cailler Mrs. Fournier Biology W3 10/19/07

Climate There are many different places where you find lakes and ponds with many different climates. But they are relatively warm. For my lake biome the climate can vary from the -5 to 95. But the lake I researched climate of the water stays in the 70-80’s. But in many places you can have warm weather all year round or cold weather all year round. If you lived on a lake in Florida the water would stay in the mid to high 80’s all year round.

Where in the world is that Lake My biome is located throughout the world but my most favorite lake is located in my home town of Litchfield, Maine. This is located in the northeast part of the united states. This lake is in a secluded part of the world where it is highly wooded and has a lot of vegetation around.

What animals live there. The dominate animal in the lake would have to be a loon. The loons are sleek beautiful birds that swim around the lake and are a sight to see. Many lakes do not have loons because the lake has dirty water, but Tacoma has the cleanest water in Maine. There are many more animals in this lake such as bass, ducks, snakes, and much more. But the most dominate is the loon by far.
5
Vegetation. There is not very much vegetation in or around the Tacoma lake region. I would have to say the most dominate in the water would be normal old sea weed such as Lilly pads. There is a lot of overgrown Lilly pad spots on the lake such as on the little river path way to jimmy pond. These Lilly pads are amazing to see frogs jump from one to another.

Positive and Negative The Positive- The positive affects humans have on the lake is that they show care and start commotions to keep the lake clean by having people at the boat launch. The negative- some people just go out and don’t care or no anything. This means they come in from out of state and bring there boats not washed. The other is people out there parting and putting people animals and the lake in danger. By driving crazy or just littering.
