15. DEAFNESS Deafness is a generic term which covers a wide range of hearing loss Deaf with a capital D denotes people who regard themselves as part of a linguistic cultural minority group. (Deaf people). deafness with a lower case d is used when describing hearing loss in general. Hard of Hearing denotes people with an acquired hearing loss.

20. 2. Face the light and the person at all times

21. 3. Include hard of hearing people in your conversation. Let them know what you are talking about

22. 4. Don’t hide your mouth, eg. Behind a newspaper

23. 5. Talk directly to hard of hearing people

24. 6. Speak clearly, not too fast and repeat if necessary

25. 7. Don’t shout into the ear or hearing aid.

26. 8.Tell hard of hearing people what you are laughing at.

27. 9. Avoid unnecessary noise to get the persons attention before speaking
