Stress Artifact 3 Problem Solving Section of letter written to solicit more support Recently, with the help of Ms. Gil Casado, I conducted a student survey through backyards. A random sampling of 83 students filled out a questionnaire about their stress levels in various areas of their lives, as well as the likelihood that they would take a stress reduction class like the one I am proposing. 69% of the students surveyed said that they would be likely to take the course, with 27% of the 69% saying that they would be very likely to take the course. I also asked the students to rate their stress levels for homework, grades, home life, relationships, sports/extracurricular activities, and their jobs. Grades and homework were marked as the two most stressful with 49% of the students ranking grades as high to very high stress, and 54% ranking homework as high to very high stress. Please see the attached survey results, which will show the data in more detail. In addition to the survey results, I have received positive feedback from dozens of my peers and many Memorial teachers and counselors I have spoken to about the perspective course. In addition, I have been gathering a list of health care professionals who have pledged their support in helping to make this class a reality. They include: Dr. David Rakel MD, founder and director of the UW Integrative Medicine Program, Dr. Adam Rindfleisch MD from the UW Integrative Health Center, Iris Mickey (certified yoga instructor), Kathleen Dorgan DC (Chiropractor), Bonnie Milgrim, MA, LPC (psychotherapist), Amanda Case (substance abuse / drug counselor), and several other clinicians from the Dane County mental Health Center.
