2 Proposed ILSA/FSC Expt. Aug. 2007 Goal: understand laser-cone interactions –Do cones concentrate laser energy? –Do cones concentrate electron energy? Use novel “hockey stick” targets –Measure laser specular/scatter –Measure electron transport near surface NIF quad spot & pointing  80-100  m –Use moderate f/# cones to guide light

3 The region of the cone end should get hotter due to field enhancement T hot should be higher T hot should be low Do Cones Concentrate Laser Energy? Use large focal spot for this Effects of beam divergence must be included.
