Choose 5 slogans from Ads or Commercial Films (either in Chinese or English) and discuss why they are great with language skills. Please analyze the slogans and give your interpretation for them.

3 1.Subway ( Sandwich chain restaurant)

4 Slogan: The Way A Sandwich Should Be
This slogan gives consumers imagination about this product--- you can choose any flavors and in stuffings you want. A sandwich can be made in a variety ways. Just like making your own sandwich!

5 Slogan: The Way A Sandwich Should Be
The language skill of this slogan is interesting, “Subway” original meaning is a kind of conveyances, they names subway because their sandwiches’ shape like a real subway (long and huge).

6 Slogan: The Way A Sandwich Should Be
Restaurant name ”Subway” and “The way” have same pronunciation, “The way” is also meaning a manner, a mode that you can chose your favorite mixing sandwich.

7 2.China Airlines. Its logo is a red plum blossom .

8 Slogan: We blossom everyday
The verb “blossom” has three meanings, one is to bring forth flower, second is to grow up, third is to prosper and to succeed in.

Because of China Airlines logo is a red plum blossom which is meaning lucky, so it can be explained like a plum blossom bloom well, and many lucky things come, than makes triumph to prosper. It gives consumers a geniality image.

10 3.Soya sauce (萬家香烤肉醬)

11 Slogan: 一家烤肉萬家香 If a brand of soya sauce wants to attract consumers, the smell is a big key point, because a dish smell good can desire people to eat.

12 Slogan: 一家烤肉萬家香 This slogan gives a great image for consumers, a family (一家) making barbecue the smell can spread around the town(萬家). It truly make people pay attention to this brand of soya sauce.

This slogan only composes of three words, but these three words are enough to give consumers a powerful image.

The verb “shift” means not only move but also change, and no matter “move the future” or “change the future” are easy to seize consumers’ mind, because everyone have same dream which can control their futures by themselves.

17 Slogan: Melts in your mouth, not in your hand.
This brand of chocolate is famous for its colorful sugar coating, and the sugar coating can avoid chocolate melting too quickly,

so this slogan is showing its feature very clearly and giving consumer a great product imagine: clean and sweet.
