How have germs evolved? Will they grow stronger in the future? Marshall Bovee 1-6-10

New Diseases/Viruses AIDS was officially considered a disease in 1981 More recently Swine flu has been a virus that infected thousands of Americans over the last year.

Dangers of Viruses New viruses are constantly discovered, which means viruses are always evolving. New viruses means we most likely don’t have any resistance to them. Viruses spread exponentially, so if a strong virus spread to many people it would be harder to get rid of it.

A new virus to us doesn’t necessarily be a completely new virus. Smallpox was new to the natives of the New World. Smallpox was new to the natives of the New World. What if the human population was exposed to a new, dangerous virus? What if the human population was exposed to a new, dangerous virus?

Could a Disease be the end of the Human Race, or at least wipe out a large part of our population?

Maybe. Diseases weaken a huge part of the population. If it were a virus we haven’t been exposed to before it could kill people easier.

Imagine if… Swine flu had been more deadly. We hadn’t found a vaccine for it. It had spread faster than it did. The first stages of the virus were unnoticeable.

Second look… If a “super-virus” were to evolve it would most likely not wipe out the entire population. Very small chance of an event like this actually happening, so it probably wouldn’t be in the near future. I obviously can’t prove anything since this is just a prediction, but of all the “End of the World” scenario’s I definitely think this one is more likely.
