8 Some lights from the socio-environmental study  The process to obtain a change in behaviour is complex and needs time to be settled.  A bond between school and family is essential for the success of an educative project designed to improve daily life.  The social environment (family, community) should be placed in a position to accept the changes.  The school programme should be associated with an information programme addressed to adults.  To be realistic, the education programme should be supported by essential infrastructures at school (1 water tap, 1 latrine)

9  Education sustains the development of the human being  Health and well-being are crucial for acquisition of knowledge  Children are agents for change UNIVERSALITY of the primary TARGETS  Water is the basis of hygiene  80% of the diseases are linked to the lack of access to safe water Health education based on relationships with water  In DC, level of women education and health are strongly related Girls at schoolchildren at school

10 SPECIFIC CONTEXT and secondary TARGETS  Woman is the heart of all domestic usages of water and brings about change  Local actors (institutions, NGOs,…) warrant durability of the action Mothers and other women at home Sensitization of National institutions and other local organisations Implementation of adapted training for educators  Educators are the vector of knowledge

11 Three governing ideas Identifying Three steps to follow during the curriculum  The perception of the water and of oneself  The understanding of water and health  Action on water and health  Instruction based on repetition of day-to-day actions rather than theoretical education  Linkage between the child at school and the daily gestures at home  An approach targeting the use of water rather than diseases Defining three themes …
