2. Assignment 10  Release of imperfect software –You are the managing team for a software company that produces software for filling out income tax forms. The rules for taxation of certain kinds of small businesses have recently been changed, and you're not certain your company's new program has been correctly modified to follow to follow the new rules. But it is now the time when people are starting to do their tax forms, and if the program is not released now, the company will lose all the sales for this year. The number of businesses affected by the new rules is small. You are deciding whether or not to release the program

3. Group B Opposing the release of the program  Why? – Unethical  Unfinished product (doesn’t do all it promises to do)  Will not work the same for everyone (the ones affected will have issues)  Basically, lying to the costumer, who is counting on the software to fulfill their needs

4. Group B (cont.)  The software might get users in trouble –Not being able to use the program efficiently –Problems with the IRS, just because of lazy programming  Wrong calculations, missing sections  Delays  Fines  Legal repercussions towards the costumer because they trusted a faulty program

5. Group B (cont.)  Not even costumer service could help users that need it because the software itself wont be able to perform certain tasks –Liability  Users that did realize the bugs, and/or got into any kind of trouble might sue the company.
