History 1896 –Salford Working Men’s College merged with Pendleton Mechanics Institute. –This formed the Salford Technical Institute.

History 1921 –Renamed to Royal Technical Institute, Salford. 1958 –2 parts: Royal College of Advanced Technology and Peel Park Technical College.

History 1961 –Peel Park Technical College became Salford Technical Institute. Salford College of Technology (in 1970). Then University College of Salford (in 1992). 1967 –Royal College of Advanced Technology changed its name to University of Salford.

History 1996. –Both institutes joined together and became the University of Salford as it is today!

Salford University Student Union The Lowry This student union is situated on the main campus It opens 11.30am till late Place to drink during the day Starting venue for 15 hours at end of term

Salford University Student Union The Pavillion (Pav) The Pav is situated on Castle Irrwell student Village Open 3 times a week till 3am Otherwise shuts at 11pm

15 hours The 15 hours is usually on the last Thursday of term. – good as finished university Operates in both the Lowry and the Pav Buy bags which gives vouchers and T-shirts. Fun games during the day and disco at night
