November 3 rd – 7 th Georgia Apply to College Day (11/5) - Shiloh High School will be offering Seniors the opportunity to apply to college early, while having the support of specially trained school and volunteer personnel. Financial Aid Night (11/6) - A representative from the GA Student Finance Commission will meet with parents to discuss FAFSA and other financial aid info. College Spirit Day (11/7) - Students and faculty will wear a shirt representing their favorite college/university. 21 SHS College Week

College Entrance Exams *Which Test Should I Take?* We encourage students to take both the ACT and SAT

SAT Given 7 times each school year Includes Critical Reasoning, Math, and a Writing section Each section is worth 200-800 points for a maximum of 2400 points. 2400 is the highest possible score Aptitude Test – tests verbal and reasoning abilities and potential college performance. ACT Given 6 times each school year Includes English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning. Must graduate with a minimum of 3.0 core GPA. - HOPE GPA is different from your cumulative GPA that is on your GCPS transcript HOPE GPA can be calculated on GA College 411 - We must have your social security number on file at Shiloh High - If a copy is not on file with Shiloh High, you MUST bring a copy of your social security card to the counseling office by November 14, 2014 Award amounts vary depending on the institution (visit GA College 411 for an award amount chart and additional info about the HOPE scholarship). 30 HOPE Scholarship

Be aware of application deadlines Begin looking for scholarships Apply to more than one school: -Dream School – may not get in, but is your top choice -Reach School – have a good chance of being admitted -Safety School – back up plan Request recommendations in advance on the counseling department website (recommendations will be completed in 10 business days). Visit the Shiloh High School website for updates Don’t forget to join the Shiloh High School PTSA! Senior year is very important. Do not slack off in your classes or allow your grades to drop. If you need assistance in any of your classes, seek help from your teachers early and attend tutorial! 33 Reminders
