Meaning of Retail Trading
The word “retail Trade" is an adoption of the French word “retailer” which means “to cut”. The retailer cuts lumps of goods into smaller portions and sells them to consumers. Thus, retailers divide the bulk into smaller lots and sell them to consumers. Retail trade is a branch of home trade in which goods are sold to final consumers in small quantities.

Retailer is a person who purchases goods
either from manufacturer or wholesaler and sells them to final consumers in small quantities . He is the last and vital link in the chain of distribution and connects manufacturer and wholesaler on the one hand and the consumers on the other hand.
