2. Biographical Information
Sara Teasdale was born in St. Louis, MO.
She’s a lyric poet.
She won the Pulitzer Prize Special Citations and Awards
Sara Teasdale (August 8, 1884 – January 29, 1933)
Teasdale's first poem was published in Reedy's Mirror, a local newspaper.

Lots of Figurative Language like when she describes the waves and as being a water fall.

Implied Metaphor comparing fire to singing
Repetition repeating the same thing so it must be what Sara is trying to get across

Describing waves in the ocean as being big as a cliff.
This is describing how love can hurt you. Showing that the poet has been hurt at some point in her life.
Saying that the children have so much wonder about life and how that when they figure out what it actually is they won’t feel the same way.

I think the speaker would be the author because she’s telling us her perspective on life.

The literal meaning would be that if you give all you have in life for love it will be worth it in the end.

10. Authors Purpose
The authors purpose is to tell people that we should all love and adore life and look at it as a positive thing all the time because it will all be worth it when life is over. Sara is saying life has more good things to it than what think.
