TYPES OF CELLS We have more than 200 types of cells in our bodies. There isn’t really such a thing as a typical cell. Different cells are specialized for different functions.

TYPES OF CELLS Some organisms are unicellular (one celled) Some organisms are multicellular (many celled) Some cells are prokaryotic (no nucleus) ex. bacteria, archaea Some cells are eukaryotic (have a nucleus) ex. plants, animals, fungi, protists

CELL SPECIALIZATION Cells – Tissues – Organs - Organ Systems Tissues – group of cells working together Ex. Bone tissue, blood tissue, connective tissue Organs – group of tissues working together Ex. Heart – made of muscle, blood, and nerve tissues Organ systems – group of organs working together Ex. Circulatory system – includes heart, blood vessels, lungs
