2 Anise Fruit Origin: dried ripe fruit of pimpinella anisum family umbelliferae. Color: greyishbrown. Odor: aromatic Taste: aromatic sweet. Kind: true, simple, dry, schizocarpic, cremocarp. Insertion: inferior Dehiscence: indehiscent

3 1)Entire Cremocarp: Pear shaped (enlarged at the base, tapering at the apex), crowned with ring- like stylopod & attached to slender pedicle. stylopod 1ry ridges pedicle

4 2) Carpophore: forked 3) Dorsal side: hairy, shows 5 slightly raised 1ry ridges. 4) Ventral side: shows 2 dark longitudinal bands ( vittae )

5 5- median longitudinal cut (MLC)
1 seed in each mericarp filling the whole cavity of pericarp. Testa: adhere to pericarp (very thin with raphe on flat side. Kind: anatropous, albuminous with oily orthospermous endosperm. Embryo: dicot, apical, small & straight.
