Health and Sports Challenge-Soccer Owen Richardson 02/12/15

Health and Sports Challenge-Soccer How does soccer effect each Body System? All the body systems work very hard together when you play soccer. Some systems might be more important to different athletes but every system must be working properly if you want to succeed in sports How does each Body System work in soccer? My research says that the nervous system, muscular system and respiratory system are the most important body systems used while playing soccer

Health and Sports Challenge-Soccer Skeletal and Muscular System How does each Body System work? The skeletal system and the muscular system work together when a person kicks a ball The skeletal system includes all joints and bones in the body. The skeleton supports and protects the soft tissues that make up the body The muscular system permits movement of the body, maintains posture, and circulates blood throughout the body. The muscular system is controlled by the nervous system Quadriceps are the strongest skeletal muscle in the body and the biggest reason the lower body generates all the power while kicking

Health and Sports Challenge-Soccer Digestive System How does each Body System work? The digestive system is a group of organs working together to convert food into energy and basic nutrients to feed the entire body How does the digestive system work in soccer? Cardiovascular exercise, like soccer, helps to strengthen abdominal muscles. Getting your heart rate up on a regular basis helps keep you “regular” with your bathroom visits

Health and Sports Challenge-Soccer Immune System How does the Immune System work? The immune system protects against disease. To function properly, an immune system must detect viruses and other bacteria harmful to our bodies How does the Immune System work in soccer? Exercise, like soccer, helps your immune system fight off bacteria and viruses. It can also decrease your chances of developing heart disease, osteoporosis, and cancer

Health and Sports Challenge-Soccer Circulatory System How does each Body System work ? The circulatory system transports nutrients, water, and oxygen to your billions of body cells and carries away wastes such as carbon dioxide from your body cells How does the circulatory system work in soccer? The circulatory system responds to an increased need for blood by adjusting the width of the blood vessels-- allowing for increased blood flow when exercising

Health and Sports Challenge-Soccer Nervous System How does the Nervous System work? The nervous system coordinates voluntary and involuntary actions and transmits signals between different parts of the body How does the nervous system work in soccer? Playing soccer and other endurance activities improves mental health! Your brain is a muscle. You need to exercise it

Health and Sports Challenge-Soccer Respiratory System How does the Respiratory System work? The respiratory system is in charge of breathing. Breathing in oxygen and breathing out carbon dioxide (CO2) from our lungs and into the environment How does the Respiratory System work in soccer? Playing soccer increases your heart beats per minute so the blood is moving faster and so you breath faster. It makes your heart stronger and the athlete healthier
