2. Why are you here? Microsoft Surface Affiliate Program
What is it?
Microsoft is launching a pilot program into the Public Sector space.  This includes federal government, state and local government, EDU, and some healthcare providers.
Are Resellers authorized by Microsoft or by Synnex?
Both. Synnex choose Resellers to be a part of this pilot program.  We are waiting on the legal documents from Microsoft.  We have a launch date of 11/3/14. 
Is it an agent program or a direct sale for the Partner? 
The sale goes through the partner, but Synnex is required to ship to the End User only.

3. Why are you here? Microsoft Surface Affiliate Program
Does the pilot program have an expiration date? 
The pilot programs will initially be 6 months.
How does pricing work?  Can they get deal registration? 
These Resellers  qualify for all special pricing programs (Volume Discount, Deal Reg, Bid Grid).
Are there revenue expectations or requirements?
There are no requirements. We chose to do this because we were receiving frequent requests to do this and we saw an opportunity to drive volume.
Does the authorization allow the partner to purchase all Surface SKUs?
Yes (5 different devices + Accessories + Warranties)
Can Resellers represent ourselves as “Surface Authorized Reseller”? 
We’re waiting for Microsoft to confirm this. 
Is this a Public Sector offering only?
Yes, Public Sector only at this time. If large opportunities outside of public sector come up, we can ask for one-off exceptions!

4. Public Sector Sales & GSA
This will be rolled out next week but wanted to make sure our Federal/GSA teams understand the program:
-Microsoft’s Affiliate Program consists of 50 of our Public Sector resellers who are authorized to sell the Microsoft Surface into Fed, State/Local Gov, Education and Healthcare.
-Affiliates who have a teaming agreement with SYNNEX on GSA are authorized to sell Microsoft Surface on our GSA Schedule.  These are all teaming partners at this time.  They are noted on the attached database.
-If you are not in the Affiliate Program then you can’t sell Surface into Public Sector.  HOWEVER, Exceptions will be made!
-We are the first to market although both IM and TD will have the same offering.   
-We do have Surface on our GSA Schedule at this time, but only one sku is TAA.  We are in the process of adding some bundles that will include the docking station/Mouse/Keyboard/Warranty and several variations.

When we designed Surface Pro, we wanted to create a device that could truly be a laptop replacement, a device that had everything in a form factor that was portable yet powerful enough to get stuff done. We have had great feedback on both Surface Pro and Pro 2, people love the form factor, they love the fact that it was durable and can be taken anywhere. The feedback that we have had from artists in particular is that they loved the writing and drawing experience. When we designed Surface Pro, we had a vision in mind. When we started looking at making improvements for Surface Pro 2 we took in all the feedback from Surface Pro 1 and really honed in on some key areas that customers wanted us to improve upon. In Surface Pro 2 we addressed the battery life and made it a better laptop replacement. In a relatively short time, we have taken the feedback from Surface Pro 2 and continued the evolution of the Surface Pro vision. Neo takes huge steps forward in truly delivering a laptop replacement that is portable yet powerful, that allows you to be truly productive from anywhere. When we designed Surface Pro we had one goal in mind, replace your laptop.
I am very excited about Surface Pro 3, it truly takes leaps forward and redefines the way that we think about the Surface Pro family. Where Surface Pro to Pro 2 was an evolution, this is a completely new product, it’s both thinner and lighter, yet has a range of Intel Core processor choices, so more powerful yet thinner. As is the vision for Surface Pro of being a laptop replacement, we again focused on making this a better laptop experience.
We have greatly improved the new Surface Pro. We have used the same intensive optically bonded process for Surface Pro 3, so it's still durable but the actual glass is thinner which allows users to get closer and more precise to their content.
Surface Pro 3 is a revolutionary laptop.
To be a true laptop replacement you need a great typing experience, have we increased the trackpad by 50% which means it is a lot more accurate and greatly improves the keyboard experience
The work that the engineering team has done is astounding- think about this. The screen is 40% bigger, there’s 50% more pixels, yet it’s 100grams lighter and is more powerful.

The Surface Pro line is geared for enterprise customers. We’ve included these new features:
Onscreen Keyboard Available at Startup for PIN Entry (no physical keyboard needs to be attached)
Scenario: Mobile workers (especially in Healthcare, Finserv, Public Sector) using Surface without a keyboard with encryption tools such as McAfee Endpoint Encryption, Bitlocker + PIN , Check Point, etc. This feature allows them to turn on their device and enter their PIN without a keyboard attached.
Disable boot from USB in Firmware (UEFI)
Scenarios: Enables admins to prevent end users from booting to an uncontrolled environment. Schools, for instance, want to prevent students from using assigned devices for activities that are not school sanctioned.
Disable USB and Card Reader (Micro SDXC) ports
Scenarios: Prevent use of USB and/or Card Reader accessories. Beyond preventing Boot to USB, this feature completely shuts down access to USB and Card Reader Ports. Some customers want to control how information can get off of devices. This does not completely eliminate all paths, but it assists in that process.
Password protect Firmware (UEFI) settings
Scenario: protect users from changing settings such as enabling boot from USB, etc. Examples include schools, finserv, anyplace administrators want to lock out users from accessing the settings and changing settings (such as boot from USB) that have been set by administrators
Configurable secure boot policies to include 3rd party antivirus and encryption
Scenario: third party security clients, like McAfee Endpoint Encryption, Check Point, etc can easily participate in the secure boot trusted chain. This is now built in and does not require a separate tool to enable.
Enterprise Connectivity. Now connects to ac networks
Enterprise Asset Control. Display serial numbers and UUID info
Enterprise Kiosk Control. Lockdown devices to specific apps, keystrokes, golden images – via Windows Embedded

No matter how tall your are, Surface Pro 3 can accommodate the best angle for you.
The 3:2 Aspect ratio (A4 or legal Pad) combined with the thinness and the lightness makes it a great tablet as well. Surface Pro 3 will have all the great ports you’ve come to expect with the pro line.

12. Your laptop replacement
When designing the perfect laptop replacement, we knew lapability (use of the ability to use the device on your lap) was critical. We’ve made the Type Cover for Surface Pro 3 even better than our previous versions. It’s even more rigid and we’ve increased the trackpad by 40%.
We also added a new magnetic fold that folds up against the device and gives you added stability when working in your lap.

13. Write naturally
Surface Pen feels like a fountain pen. With one click, open OneNote and sync to the cloud.
We wanted to create a seamless experience between the way that people create. Immediacy is what people need to create, so ideas aren’t lost.
We know that 59% of people write for more than 3 hours per day.
We have created a PEN and this is very important to note. It’s not a stylus but an actual pen.
