3 How are subjects assessed At Stage 2, 70% of the assessment of every subject is marked by your teacher and moderated by the SACE Board 30% of the final score comes from the external assessment, eg., exam or major investigation, externally marked Through moderation, the SACE Board makes sure the same standards are applied across all schools

4 Performance standards Each subject has a set of performance standards described at grades A+ - E- Teachers use the performance standards to judge the quality of the evidence in the students’ work The grades from the 8 – 10 tasks in the Learning and Assessment Plan allow the teachers to make a judgement for the final school assessment result

6 Eligibility for University Entry To be eligible for selection into a university course/program you must: – qualify for the SACE – obtain a Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) – meet any prerequisite subject requirements for the course/program – Refer to SATAC publicationspublications

7 Calculating the university aggregate 60 + 30 in 2015 The university aggregate is calculated from the best scaled scores from three 20 credit Tertiary Admissions Subject (TAS) plus the best outcome from the 30 credit flexible option: – the score of a fourth 20 credit TAS or Recognised Subject – half the score of a fourth 20 credit TAS or Recognised Subject – the score of a 10 credit TAS or Recognised Subject – the score of another 10 credit TAS or Recognised Subject – the score of the subject 2RPB10 - Research Project

8 Traditional competitive entry The majority of Year 12 applicants enter University via the traditional, competitive entry method, where offers are made to eligible applicants with the highest ATAR's (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) until enrolment numbers are reached.

9 Flinders University Foundation Studies (an introduction to university study) Foundation Studies uniTEST Indigenous Australian Access Entry Scheme Adult Entry (Special Tertiary Admissions Test) Many students decide to come to university after completing a TAFE/VET qualification. Even if you did not finish secondary school (Year 12) your TAFE/VET qualification may allow you to enter university. Flinders sets aside places in most of its degree courses for TAFE/VET graduates. Students who have completed a TAFE/VET certificate III or higher are eligible to apply for undergraduate courses at Flinders.

10 The UniTest Flinders is offering uniTEST to any eligible applicant wishing to enhance their opportunity to attend university. Flinders will select students based on both an applicant's Year 12 results (60% weighting toward the ATAR score) and uniTEST performance (40%). Am I eligible? uniTEST is open to any current Year 12 student who will complete an Australian Year 12 qualification this year including International onshore Year 12 students. All Year 12 students of the ASMS are able to sit the test at the ASMS in September – strongly advised. Does uniTEST apply to my preferred course? uniTEST results can be used for entry to most Flinders University courses.

11 Portfolio Accredited Tertiary Entrance (PATE) As an ASMS student you have the opportunity to gain admission to an undergraduate course at Flinders University through a school recognised portfolio of achievement. This process is called PATE. Using the PATE provides direct entry to Flinders University and does not require an ATAR.

14 University of South Australia Diploma programs Undertaking a two-year diploma program will give you guaranteed entry into the second year of a bachelor degree (upon successful completion). We offer a Diploma of Arts, Diploma of Science and Technology and Diploma of Allied Health. The Diploma of Arts provides entry into a social sciences or communication and media degree upon successful completion. The Diploma of Science and Technology provides entry into a degree in life sciences, environmental science, physical science, nursing, health and exercise science or biomedical science upon successful completion. The Diploma of Allied Health provides entry into physiotherapy, podiatry and occupational therapy for people who are currently working in the allied health industry. Foundation Studies

15 TAFE TAFE SA courses offered through SATAC have Course Admission Requirements (CAR) which all applicants must meet in order to be eligible for selection. CAR differ according to the level and type of course. Course Admission Requirements Courses may be considered competitive if there are limited places available, or non-competitive if all interested and qualified students will be accepted. There are no CAR for non-competitive Certificate I, II, and III level courses at TAFE SA. Admission requirements into competitive Certificate I, II, and III level courses will vary, and interested applicants are advised to refer to specific course details at www.tafesa.edu.au.www.tafesa.edu.au All higher level qualifications including Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses, whether competitive or non-competitive, will have specified entry requirements. These will vary by course and will be either: > satisfactory completion of SACE Stage 2 (or equivalent); > any Certificate III; > satisfactory achievement in the TAFE SA Assessment of Basic Skills (TABS); > specific prerequisite subjects or related study.

16 Special entry Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) be aged 18 or over before 1st February for Semester 1 entry or 1st July for Semester 2 entry Applications must be made through SATAC UMAT Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admissions Test

17 Citizenship status DECD and University criteria for International students are different. Please check the university websites carefully for eligibility for government supported places. If your child is not an Australian citizen they may have to pay up front full fees.

21 Large supermarket chain To be considered for this role you need to be able to meet the following selection criteria: Console operator Ability to work a flexible roster which may include evenings and late nights across the 7 days of the week and may include public holidays Strong communication and interpersonal skills Work in a fast-paced environment Stand for extended periods of time Perform repetitive tasks Portray a positive attitude Ability to work independently and without supervision Project a professional image at all times Deal with customer queries and complaints Abide by company policies and procedures at all times including company dress standards

30 ASMS School Assessment policy All assessments will be assigned by the subject teacher via Marksbook on the portal and contain the due date. Due dates for assessment items will be negotiated with students well in advance of the date of submission. Each subject will have an assessment summary of all tasks from the Learning and Assessment Plan with approximate due dates and weightings posted on the front page of the Virtual Classroom and on the Central Studies or Stage 2 Assessment Calendar.

31 ASMS School assessment policy Students will submit assessments by the due date by the method instructed by the teacher. If an assessment deadline cannot be met, the student must negotiate a due date with the subject teacher before due date (i.e. not on the day). Students who are eligible for Special Provisions will negotiate a work completion program with their teacher(s). At Stage 2, failure to submit or sit an assessment on the due date will mean that an NP (not presented) will be assigned, which may lead to an I (insufficient evidence) for Stage 2 school assessment types. Students who are unable to present an assessment due to extenuating circumstances (e.g., medical reason) will have an NA (Not Assessed) assigned. All assessment grades will be reported via the portal in Marksbook.
