2 S E Interactive Science Notebook: Interactive Science Notebooks (ISN) are used as a meaningful way for students to take notes, complete activities, and reflect on their learning. ISNs are a great way to keep a comprehensive portfolio of what was learned throughout the year. They also serve as a great resource in which students can refer back to information learned earlier in the year. ISNs will be used almost EVERY class period! Please make sure your ISN is in science class every day! Grading Policy: Homework, Daily Work, Projects: 40% Labs & Quizzes: 35% Assessments: 25% Late Homework, Lab, and Project Penalties: One day late: - 10 pts Two days late : - 20 pts Three days late : - 30 pts Four + days : - 50 pts Absent & Late Work Policy: Students will have one day for each day missed to make up assignments. It is the student’s responsibility to get his or her make-up work from the designated make-up work folder when they return to class. The penalty system above will be followed for homework, labs, and projects. Assignments that were due prior to 3 week progress reports will NOT be accepted. Missing assignments may result in placement of lunch detention. How to Succeed in Science Class: Students are expected to give their best effort on all assignments. Grades are EARNED by students, not “given” by teachers. To succeed in science class, avoid late penalties, turn your work in, and give your best effort. When science labs are completed in class, it is possible for conclusion questions to be sent home for homework. It is SO IMPORTANT to complete your lab questions and turn it in on time. WARNING: MISSING LAB GRADES WILL GREATLY AFFECT YOUR 6 WEEKS GRADE!!! Please Join Our Science Classroom CELLY! Celly is a communication tool that will be utilized by many of the TVMS teachers. We highly recommend that both you AND your student get set up with Celly. You have 2 choices when signing up: a)FREE Smart Phone App: (RECOMMENDED) Search for Celly and download the app. Then, you will sign up and create an account. (Please use your first & last name within your username. You can add a # if needed.) Next, open the app, then touch the “+” sign in the top right corner. Enter burlesonscience in the search field, then press connect. It will require you to write a short bio, which will then notify me to accept you into the “Cell”. b)Text @burlesonscience to the # 23559, then follow the prompts you are given on the screen. This one will be more difficult to use to swtich between your other class “cells”.
