2 Monday: Bell Work After paying 8 dollars for the pie, Nancy has 75 dollars left. How much money did she have before buying the pie ? There were 31 bales of hay in the barn. Benny stacked more bales in the barn today. There are now 53 bales of hay in the barn. How many bales did he store in the barn ? 1) write the correct equations for both problems 2) solve

3 Agenda 1- bell work 2- Agenda *Hw WS and Leaf Ws both due Wednesday
3- vocabulary word of the day 4- Objective 5- lesson *Inequalities (add to TOB) 6- exit ticket

4 15. Table Examples… What does this word mean to you?
This word actually means….. an arrangement of words, numbers, or signs, in columns, to show a set of facts or relations.. What does this word mean to you? Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

5 Lesson 7. EE.4b. Solve word problems leading to inequalities of the form px + q > r or px + q < r, where p, q, and r are specific rational numbers. Graph the solution set of the inequality and interpret it in the context of the problem

6 Inequalities An inequality says that two values are not equal.  a ≠ b says that a is not equal to b There are other special symbols that show in what way things are not equal. a < b says that a is less than b a > b says that a is greater than b (those two are known as strict inequality)  a ≤ b means that a is less than or equal to b a ≥ b means that a is greater than or equal to b.

7 Inequalities Symbol Word Circle > greater than ○ < less than ○
≥ greater than or equal to ● ≤ less than or equal to ●

8 Inequalities bXA

9 Exit / Closure On a piece of paper write the following:
What was today’s objective and was it met?

10 Wednesday: Bell Work Melanie had 38 peaches left at her roadside fruit stand. She went to the orchard and picked more peaches to stock up the stand. There are now 92 peaches at the stand, how many did she pick ? There were 31 bales of hay in the barn. Benny stacked more bales in the barn today. There are now 53 bales of hay in the barn. How many bales did he store in the barn ? 1) write the correct equations for both problems 2) solve

11 Agenda 1- bell work 2- Agenda *WS due Thursday
3- vocabulary word of the day 4- Objective 5-Check HW 6- lesson 7- exit ticket

12 16. Equation Examples… What does this word mean to you?
This word actually means….. math sentence that shows two equivalent expressions. What does this word mean to you? Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

13 Lesson 7. EE.4b. Solve word problems leading to inequalities of the form px + q > r or px + q < r, where p, q, and r are specific rational numbers. Graph the solution set of the inequality and interpret it in the context of the problem

16 Inequalities

17 Inequalities

18 Compound Inequalities
Graph x > 2 or x < -3 Graph x ≥ - 2 and x < ≤ x < 1

19 Compound Inequalities
 x ≥ 2 and x < ≤ x < 4 x > 5 and x ≤ < x ≤ 7

20 Compound Inequalities

21 Exit / Closure Journal Entry
How the answers to inqualities different than the answers to equations?

22 Thursday: Bell Work Write an inequality to model the situations.
1) Thomas earned $44 or more. 2) Suppose you had d dollars in your bank account. You spent $22 but have at least $28 left. How much money did you have initially? Write and solve an inequality that represents this situation.

23 Agenda 1- bell work 2- Agenda *WS 3- vocabulary word of the day
4- Objective 5- check HW 6- lesson *N2K / *One step Inequalities (add to TOB) 7 7- exit ticket

24 17. Expression Examples… What does this word mean to you?
This word actually means….. math phrase that contains operations, numbers and/or variables. What does this word mean to you? Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

25 Lesson 7. EE.4b. Solve word problems leading to inequalities of the form px + q > r or px + q < r, where p, q, and r are specific rational numbers. Graph the solution set of the inequality and interpret it in the context of the problem N2K 2

26 Need to Know 2 When you finish the need to know, look at the Study Guide Review any missed problems.

27 Inequalities

28 Inequalities

29 Inequalities

30 Exit/ Closure Partner discussion with your neighbor (s)
When graphing inqualities explain the difference between the open and closed circle?

31 Friday: Bell Work Tina can type at least 60 words per minute. Write and graph an inequality to model this situation.

32 Agenda 1- bell work 2- Agenda *in class problems
3- vocabulary word of the day 4- Objective 5- check HW 6- lesson *one and two step inequalities 7- exit ticket

33 18. Rate Examples… What does this word mean to you?
This word actually means….. a ration that compares two quantities measured in different units. What does this word mean to you? Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

34 Lesson 7. EE.4b. Solve word problems leading to inequalities of the form px + q > r or px + q < r, where p, q, and r are specific rational numbers. Graph the solution set of the inequality and interpret it in the context of the problem

35 Inequalities Reminder note: When dividing or multiplying by a negative, switch the inequality symbol. 12 x < 24 ÷ ÷ divide by -12 x > symbol flips because of the symbol

36 Exit / Closure Partner discussion with your neighbor (s)
What happens when you multiply / divide by a negative?
