1. Writing Module The Writing Module is a floating module for Grades 9 and 10. The three units in this module focus on the informative, argumentative, and narrative writing process. Each unit can stand alone or be interspersed across the curriculum Each unit can be scaffolded based on student need.

Each unit is designed to support student engagement in the writing process, study of models, collaborative work, and development of a final product. 12 Lessons addressing: Writing Models Writing Prompt Analyses Reading Sources and analyzing construction of models Freewriting, addressing task, purpose, audience Planning, Outlining, developing based on purpose for writing Drafting Intro, Body and Conclusion Peer review Editing Reflection

3. SUPPLEMENTAL LESSONS A-G 7 Additional Lessons, lettered, not numbered Offer direct instruction on discrete skills Designed to be implemented between Lessons 10 and 11.

6. If a school district is using the ELA Modules, adding any of these units will necessitate a reevaluation the curriculum map. Below is a model of alternative options for Grade 9.
