Introduction In 2000, Paul Sereno led a team of scientists to Gadoufaoua, Niger (Africa) to look for fossils, after having found some there in 1997. The team spent 4 months there and found 20 tons of bones from fish, turtles, dinosaurs and from a Supercroc.

Supercroc skull = 6 ft Sereno compared this to today's crocs. Today's largest = 20 ft SC = 40 ft long, weighed 10 tons

head wider in front than in the middle = unique SC had a hole (nose) - probably used for smell or communication SC had hundreds of 1 ft large bone plates called scutes

SC lived 110 million years ago - Sereno compared fossils that already had dates Gadoufaoua, now a desert, used to have lots of water found SC along with 5 other croc species
