1 PSEU Head Office Public March Merrion Square, Dublin 1pm, Saturday June 6 th Workers at Dunnes’ Stores have asked all members of all trade unions to participate and to highlight their struggle Look for the PSEU Banner

2 The PSEU Executive Committee is encouraging all members to participate in the March to Dunnes’ Stores Head Office on Saturday, June 6th. Dunnes’ Stores workers are not seeking anything radical or unreasonable. They are seeking, quite simply: More security of hours (rostered hours can vary from 15 to 35 hours week to week, making it extremely difficult to have any level of predictable earnings) Fair pay (an issue that resonates with us all) Job Security (currently, many workers are employed on 3/6  month contracts and can simply be let go at the end) The right to be represented The Dunnes’ Stores dispute is of particular importance as this society begins to emerge from the financial doldrums and faces key decisions about the type of society in which we want to live. Simply put – do we want workers to be treated fairly or not? Dunnes’ Stores management will, ultimately, respond to the consumer. The more consumers that stand up on 6th June and make it clear that the price for their custom is the fair and reasonable treatment of workers, the better chance our Dunnes’ Stores colleagues will have.

3 “It is crucial for the success of our campaign that the public continues to support Dunnes workers and mobilises with them. So on behalf of all Dunnes Stores workers and all members of Mandate Trade Union, we thank you for your support thus far and we look forward to that continued support in the future as we go on to victory in our Decency for Dunnes Workers campaign.” John Douglas, Mandate General Secretary Disputes are never easy and I should know having worked in Dunnes Stores for more than 20 years. Right now I feel a great sense of déjà vu as I recall the intense pressure in the days leading up to the disputes in the 90’s. Those of you who shared the experience of those picket lines know exactly what to expect in the lead up to this dispute but for many Mandate members they are experiencing it all for the very first time and it is both challenging and difficult. Karen Wall (former Dunnes worker & Mandate Divisional Organiser) “This particular dispute is a stark manifestation of the most regressive forms of employment … They will not permit the commodity they call 'labour' to stand in the way of their profits.” Patricia King, ICTU, speaking to the PSEU Conference about the Dunnes’ Dispute.

4 This Saturday, we are all invited to participate in a march from Merrion Square to Dunnes’ Stores HQ. Our colleagues in Dunnes’ need our help. Give what time you can. 1pm, Saturday June 6 th, Merrion Square, Dublin. Look for the PSEU Banner. PSEU members at a recent training course expressing their support for Dunnes’ Workers
