1 Group-I Soil Health Rajasthan Soil Health- Major Concerns  Creation of a data base on agro-eco-regional basis, the resources of native soil fertility, fertilizers, bio-fertilizers, manures and other rural and urban materials.  Identification of nutritional and other soil related constraints in each agro-eco sub regions for rational use of fertilizers and amendments in different soils and cropping systems to encourage adopt balanced fertilizers use and sustain high crop productivity.  Improves the use efficiency of inputs by fully-exploiting the interactions among seed, water, fertilizer (formulation and placement), tillage etc.  Monitoring, changes in soil fertility in order to delineate areas of widespread deficiencies of major, secondary and micronutrients to forecast the emergence of deficiencies of these nutrients for making necessary corrections and optimization of fertilizer use in different agro-eco sub regions.

2 Major Concerns Cont’d  Explore the possibilities for progressive reduction in heavy inputs of fertilizer by substituting with manures, crop residues, rural and urban wastes etc. there is also a need for generating technology for conservation and optimum use of all organic resources.  Reduction of regional, seasonal and nutritional imbalance of fertilizer use.  Development of a sound soil test based fertilizer scheduling system for different cropping systems for precise application of fertilizers and other nutrient resources taking into consideration the crop needs, soil productivity and environmental consequences.  Suggestions for increased use of plant nutrients through natural resources like Gypsum, Rock Phosphate etc and thereby reduce dependence of the imported fertilizers like DAP.  To suggested use of customized fertilizers and to find out the possibilities of coated and /or fortified fertilizers.

7 Alternative strategy adopted - for expansion of soil testing services  Based on soil fertility survey of all Panchayat Samittees of the state the village wise soil fertility status have been uploaded on departmental website i.e. www Krishi.rajasthan.gov.in  Distribution of 52.50 lac Village level Soil Health and Package of Practice Cards- 100 copies in each village  fertility Status uploaded on Department Website- village wise fertility status of 38091 villages have been uploaded on Rajasthankrishi.gov.in  Panchayat Sammittee wise Soil Fertility Maps were digitalized and developed on sun board. Approximately 100 copies of such maps were distributed in each block for its depiction at important places.  District wise soil fertility maps- District wise soil fertility maps were developed by SRSAC, Jodhpur and 10 framed copies have been sent to each district for presentation and propagation of soil test and its recommendations.  Expansion of soil testing services through PPP mode

9 Soil Testing and soil health card distribution  36.18 Lac soil & water samples were tested and 30.77 Lac soil health cards distributed from year 2002-03 to 2013-14.  12 new mobile & 14 new static soil testing labs were developed and operational on PPP mode under NPMS&F and 2.03 Lac soil health cards were distributed by these labs so far.  Development in micronutrient testing facilities- 0.55 lac samples yearly on average basis are being tested for Zinc, Iron, Copper and Manganese.

10 Revival and enhancement of Soil testing Lab Programme Present Status-  Soil Testing Labs- 58 (12 mobile and 14Static on PPP mode)  Combined Annual Capacity- 5.22 lac samples.  Soil health card distributed – 30.77 lac (from 2002-03 to 2013-14) Strategy-  To cover 68.8 lac land holdings of the state Soil Testing Laboratories should have capacity of providing Soil Health Cards to all the farmers in every 5 years.  For this it is assumed that, a soil testing lab of 8000 to 10000 samples/ annum capacity is sufficient for coverage of 50000 ha. net irrigated area and for un-irrigated areas a laboratory of same capacity is sufficient for 150000 ha. area. Initiative-  55 new soil testing labs are to be developed in next 03 years. The estimated project cost is 2145 lac  These labs will be developed at Agriculture cluster lecel and /or KUMs. Special Project  Analysis of soil Samples and Providing Soil Health cards to each farm household (Approx. 68.88 lac) of the State in four years through Private Laboratories. Estimated Project Cost- Rs 7500 lacs. Coverage- All Districts, all land holdings

Soil Testing Programme.  Development of state level soil testing lab for technical enrichment.  On line balance nutrient recommendation for crops through Soil Health Cards. Initiative: Establishment of 55 new soil testing labs in order to cover all land holdings at least ones in 5 years . Integrated Nutrient Management.  Biofertilizers- to supplement and increase efficiency of applied nutrients  Micronutrients - to address deficiencies of micro nutrients and improve productivity . Reclamation of Alkali Soils.  Reclamation programme through use of Gypsum  Improving productivity through Green Manuring . Enhanced use of Organic manures.
