4
4 Announcement Welcome, Karen Olsen and DRC! Data Recognition Corporation will serve as the operational test vendor for ACCESS for ELLs 2.0, both paper and online DRC has extensive online testing experience and has done an amazing job with the ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Field Test
5
5 Development Timeline Fully Operational 2015-2016, with states continuing to determine their operational testing window
6
6 Key Changes to Expect Computerized test for grades 1-12 Paper ACCESS will continue to be available as an accommodation and if districts do not have the technology for online testing. New grade clusters: *Note: Kindergarten will remain an interactive, paper-based kit. For the foreseeable future, it will not be an online assessment
7
7 Key Changes with online test: Response Capture Listening and Reading: student responses will be captured digitally and scored by the online test engine Speaking: student responses will be recorded into the computer with a headset and automatically sent to a central location for scoring Writing: keyboarded student responses will be captured digitally and automatically sent to a central location for scoring; Educators will ship handwritten responses to the central location for scoring
8
8 Benefits of the New Online Test Increased student engagement through a more dynamic testing experience Built-in accommodations and accessibility features appropriate for a range of student needs Logistical flexibility as a result of simultaneous administration of multiple grades and proficiency levels Increased ease for test administrators who will no longer need to administer and score the Speaking test one-on-one and who will not need to order by tier
9
9 New with Online Listening Students will hear an audio passage and will see visual prompts on the computer screen When the passage is complete, students will select a response on the computer screen The test engine will digitally capture and score students’ responses

21
21 Administration Considerations Timing of Test: The test will be self paced. The test engine will manage tiers on the back end; educators do not need to select tiers for online test Order of Administration: Student placement on the Writing and Speaking test will be determined by their performance on the Listening and Reading tests. Listening and Reading: will be administered first. They may be administered together or separately. Writing and Speaking: can be administered in either order, after Listening and Reading
