2 National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs "Fun, Learning and Achievement" What is the Levy? The levy is a pot of money that provides the income from the NFYFC membership every year – pot is currently £299,157.00 It is a fixed figure that gets divided by the number of members at year end (31 st Aug) - 31 st Aug 2014 = 22,519 levy paying members (10-26yrs) There are 2 reasons for a levy pot: 1.It enables NFYFC to budget accurately as membership income is known 2.It means if the membership increases in a year, members pay less In order to increase the levy pot (membership income) it has to be done by a % figure and voted on at AGM meeting at convention weekend

3 National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs "Fun, Learning and Achievement" Current Situation The Board of Management are recommending a 20% increase of the Levy pot this year That would increase the levy pot from £299,157 to £358,988 (+£59,831) If membership numbers remained static this would mean a £2.66 increase to membership for 2015 Currently members pay £13.28 this would increase to £15.94 The reason for requesting a levy increase is simple. We have a gap in our income vs expenditure which we need to address The Board has 2 choices: 1. We look to increase our income by increasing the levy pot 2. We look at cutting services (decrease our expenditure) Currently the Board of Management do not wish to make cuts to any services
