3 TEACHER ASSESSMENT AND TESTS To build up a picture of what each child can do through everyday teaching and learning To use tasks or tests in reading, writing and mathematics to add to this picture To make an end of year level judgement based on a range of materials

18 Level 3 Type Questions Write one thousand and six. 2 classes at Park school go on a visit. Each class has 30 children and 6 grown – ups. How many go on the visit altogether? 5 is a quarter of a number. What is the number?

19 Mathematics Level 2 Write the total. 7 + 3 + 8 + 2 = Write the number which is 11 less than 40. Ella’s dad washes some cars. He uses 12 buckets of water. Each bucket has 5 litres of water. How many litres of water does he use altogether? Show how you work it out in the box.

20 Mathematics Level 3 Write numbers in the boxes to make this correct. 350 + + = 420 The shop is open for 6 days each week. It is open for 8 hours each day. How many hours is the shop open each week? Show how you work it out in the box. What is half of this amount? 50p £1

22 Science Science Assessments are made throughout the year as each science topic is completed. Children are assessed on both their investigative skills and their scientific understanding. There is no National test for Science.

23 ORGANISATION Tests no longer have to be carried out in May Some tests - whole class e.g. spellings Large groups e.g. reading tasks Smaller groups for maths & writing tasks

24 Reporting to parents Overall level will be reported from all the information gathered Reported as teacher assessment Expected level at the end of year 2 – level 2 Level 2c below average Level 2b average Level 2a above average Level 3 –well above average.
