8. 1917:
Smith-Hughes Act establishes vocational agriculture courses

9. 1928:
Future Farmers of America was organized in Kansas City, Missouri

10. 1950: Public Law 81-740 passes Gives the FFA Tax Break
FFA becomes an co-curricular part of Ag classes.

11. 1965:
The New Farmers of America (NFA), the organization for African American Ag students, merges with the FFA
1969:
Girls where admitted to the FFA
Now they make up 1/3rd of the membership.

12. 1988:
The “Future Farmers of America” is changed to the “National FFA Organization”
