Native Page 113 Main idea: The most important part of life for human beings is love. 1. It is important to love and respect nature. 2. The earth is a gift from the Great Spirit. It is a “second mother.” We show our thanks for the gifts of nature by using them with respect. 3. Love nourishes the human spirit. 4. Without love, people have no courage, they have weak self-esteem, they have no confidence to face the world. They destroy themselves.

Long ago in Africa, a mother may have been a poet or an artist and passed on her creativity to her daughter. 4.
