Research Studies Eye Institute, Bethesda, USA has supported various trials (DRS, ETDRS. DRVS) Laser treatment is beneficial for diabetic retinopathy and vitreous surgery may be beneficial in some. Wisconsin Epidemiologic Study of Diabetic Retinopathy (WESDR), Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT), and United Kingdom Prospective Diabetes Study (UKPDS) Intense control of hyperglycemia, control of high blood pressure and lipid control have positive and beneficial effect on prevention / postpone / progression of diabetic retinopathy
