2. You will be expected to be able to explain that most metals have to be extracted from their ores, which are found in the Earth’s crust. You will need to explain how to extract a metal using carbon and relate the reactivity series to the extraction method. You will need to be able to explain the electrolysis of aluminium. You will need to discuss the abundance of these metals and the relative costs of each type of extraction. How do you get the metals that I use every day?

3. You decide to seek your fortune as a metal supplier. The problem is, you can’t decide which metal to specialise in. You know that you will have to extract the metal from the Earth’s crust. 1. Put together information about the extraction of gold, iron and aluminium. 2. Use as much science as you can, including equations, as well as process details. 3.
