The Via Partnership: We help young people and adults with careers and employment skills. We help employers to develop their business and their workforce by encouraging training. Careers Youth: We work with a vast number of schools across Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool and beyond to deliver impartial advice and guidance on careers. In Blackburn with Darwen, we operate the Connexions service.

Options for the Future A Levels Vocational Courses Apprenticeships Study Programme Traineeships

A Levels 2 Year Course Select 4 subjects currently Entry Requirements will vary according to College and Subject. Generally at least 5 A*- C grades, including English, Maths Involve a lot of reading and in depth research about the subject, Exam and Coursework based Would suit someone interested in an academic route Interest, career related and enjoy the subject

Vocational Course Practical Learning Route and relates specifically to a job role or industry ie Business, Motor Vehicle or Construction Suits a practical person with a career in mind Qualifications follow a course structure ie a B-tec Allows Higher Education Entry, dependent on career plan and subject area. Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3

Apprenticeship An Apprenticeship is a paid job with training, leading to a package of qualifications which relate to the job. Combines practical Work Experience with the opportunity to gain qualifications. ie 4 days a week with employer and 1 day a week at College or Training Provider Suit hands on/Practical person ready for work

Apprenticeship Level 2 (5 GCSEs) Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 (2 x A Levels) Higher Apprenticeship Level 4+ (Foundation Degree) Apprenticeship Levels

Study Programmes/Traineeships Local College and Training providers run own version Study Programme: Pre Apprenticeship 20 weeks to 9 month courses Specific to work areas or generic Include Work Placements and Employability Skills Traineeships; Financial Support

Raising the Participation Age RPA Options: Full-time education, such as school, college or home education or Work-based learning, such as an Apprenticeship or Part-time education or training if they are employed, self-employed or volunteering for 20 hours or more a week.
