11 11 VALiD Aims of the Families Course For Families and Supporters to think about what their ‘role’ is Refresh or learn new skills Build a network of support Learn about new things in the system - Planning - Individualised support - The NDIS

12 12 VALiD Course Outline Session 1. What is families role? Session 2. Effective Communication Session 3. What is a Plan & Why have one? Session 4. Moving from a plan to funding Session 5. Promoting Empowerment Session 6. Pulling it Together

13 13 VALiD What, where & when? Usually six sessions over 6 weeks 3 - 4 hours for a session Usually from 9.30am –2pm Venues – in local areas
