1 Vision for the Wales for Africa Health Links Network Dr. Tony Jewell, Chair

2 Background The Wales for Africa initiative began in 2003, led by First Minister (FM) Rhodri Morgan. In 2005 the Wales for Africa Health Links Network (WfAHLN), emerged as an informal group of existing Health Links in Wales. Some of these links have now been active and growing for over ten years. In 2005 Sir Eldryd Parry, Founder of the Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET), met with the FM and as a result £50,000/annum was made available from the Welsh Government for supporting the links work. This increased to £100,000 in 2011. These small grants continue to help foster links by engaging people from countries and communities to develop sustainable partnerships.
