Unit 6

2 Friday 1/23 Achieve 3000. Now that Achieve 3000 has been purchased for our use, classes will do 45 minutes of Achieve 3000 every Friday, and will also complete Achieve 3000 readings during their enrichment times on Thursdays. Readings will be assigned and given a grade out of 8.

I want 4 readings completed by the end of Friday. This does not include last Friday’s readings. SWBAT: identify key terms and people from the 1800s.

4 Tuesday- Science Benchmark
Students will complete the Science Benchmark for Miss Colburn. After your benchmark: Log-on to Achieve 3000 Complete “ The Presidents’ Club,” and “Saying Goodbye to a Pioneer.” HOMEWORK: Read 4 other achieve 3000 articles of your choosing and complete the activity section for them by Friday.

5 Wednesday and Thursday
“The Presidents” documentary and movie guide. Students will gain knowledge of the presidencies of Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe in order to later explain how their presidencies still impact us today. SWBAT: Summarize the presidencies of Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe.

Do “Weekly 5: 1/30/15” When you are done, raise your hand. Ms. Farley will present you with the study guide for this unit which we will tackle as a class. On your own however, you will complete the section on “Washington’s Presidency.” If you get done before the rest of your classmates, continue to the next section. We will go over “Washington’s Presidency” 10 minutes before class ends.

8 Presidents of the US- Who were they? What did they do?
We are going to divide and conquer in our quest for knowledge about the presidents. We will count off by 5. You will then meet with the person who has that same number and complete the page that is associated with that number. You need to become an expert on this page, because we will be having to teach another group about our page. You will have today to read and answer the questions on your page. Tomorrow we will get with our other group to hear about the other presidents.

13 Thursday, 2/5/15 Turn in your signed Progress Report to the orange bin. Divide and Conquer again! Count off by 5. We will cover The War of 1812 (1), Industry and Inventions (2), Plantations and Slavery (3), Nationalism and Sectionalism (4), and Politics of the People (5). Today you need to complete your section’s reading and questions. Tomorrow you will share with the class. Homework: Any work not finished in class.

16 Andrew Jackson Students will watch a documentary on Jackson to determine if he is a presidential hero or villain. This will take two days. 19 Westward Expansion Brain-pop
