4 Dates for the calendar Transition days Every Tuesday in November. 9:30am – 1:00pm November 4 th, 11 th, 18 th and 25 th Best Start Assessment Starts Wednesday, January 28 th to Friday, January 30 th 45 minute appointment Kindergarten Starts Monday, February 2 nd 2015 Class Structure Decision made on Friday, January 30 th Most likely a Kindergarten class and a K/Year 1 class. Depending on Kinder enrolment and whole school enrolment

9 Get involved 1. Canteen volunteer 2. Classroom volunteer 3. P&C and fundraising 4. Share your expertise 5. Attend focus days 6. Read to your child, or listen to them read to you, every day Valuing your child’s education is the best support you can give

10 Get them to school 1. Keep your child home if they are sick 2. Apply for an exemption certificate if you are going on an extended trip 3. If your child has less than 65 days absent in their 13 years of schooling they have a 95% chance of attending university 4. If your child has 20 days absent per year by Year 10 they have missed a year of school and have a 5% chance of attending university

11 Support your child’s behaviour, don’t defend it. 1. Teachers and parents need to be working on the same page. 2. Support the school’s discipline policy, in the long term it is in your child’s best interest
