(राज्य, राष्ट्रीय आणि आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावरील महत्वाच्या चालू घडामोडी) History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement. (भारतीय इतिहास (महाराष्ट्राच्या संदर्भात) व राष्ट्रीय चळवळ) Maharashtra, India and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of Maharashtra, India and the World. (महाराष्ट्राचा, भारताचा व जगाचा भौतिक, सामाजिक व आर्थिक भूगोल) Maharashtra and India – Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj,Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc. (महाराष्ट्राची व भारताची राज्यव्यवस्था आणि शासन) Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc. (आर्थिक व सामाजिक विकास) General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change-that do not require subject specialisation. Prelim Exam Pattern General Aptitude Paper (200 Marks) 2 Hrs. Comprehension (आकलन क्षमता) Interpersonal skills including communication skills.(परस्पर संवादासह आंतर्व्याक्ती संवाद कौशल्ये) Logical reasoning and analytical ability. (तार्किक व विश्लेषण क्षमता) Decision – making and problem – solving. (निर्णय निर्धारण व समस्येचे निराकरण) General mental ability (सामान्य बौद्धिक क्षमता) Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation(Charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.- Class X level) (पायाभूत अंकगणित & माहितीचे अर्थान्तरण) Marathi and English Language Comprehension skills (Class X/XII level).(मराठी व इंग्रजी भाषिक आकलन कौशल्य)

Prelim Exam Pattern Note 1 : Questions relating to Marathi and English Language Comprehension skill of Class X/XII level (last item in the Syllabus of Paper II) will be tested through passages from Marathi and English language without providing cross translation thereof in the question paper. Note 2 : The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type. Note 3 : It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in both the Papers of State Services (Prelim) Examination for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore a candidate will be disqualified in case he / she does not appear in both the papers of State Services (Prelim) Examination.

Marathi Paper – 100 Marks, (Descriptive Type Paper) General Studies Paper I- 150 Marks, (Objective Type Paper) - 2 hrs #(HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY) General Studies Paper II – 150 Marks, (Objective Type Paper) - 2 hrs #(INDIAN CONSTITUTION AND INDIAN POLITICS) (WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO MAHARASHTRA) AND LAW General Studies Paper III– 150 Marks, (Objective Type Paper) - 2 hrs #(HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (HRD) AND HUMAN RIGHTS ) General Studies Paper IV- 150 Marks, (Objective Type Paper) - 2 hrs #(ECONOMY AND PLANNING, ECONOMICS OF DEVELOPMENT, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT) (Total: 800 Marks)

Personal Interview Only those Qualifying the Mains Exam will be summoned for the Interview. The number of candidates to be summoned for Interview will be about twice the number of vacancies to be filled. Interview will be for 30 – 60 minutes approximately Interview panel would include – Retd. Judge, Ex-Vice Chancellor of University, Subject Matter Expert etc.
