A)Build the exact models using the appropriate colored linking cubes. We use the linking cubes so we can keep it together when picking it up and moving it around. Remember the cubes cannot hang in space. B)Draw the design on Grid paper or Isometric Dot paper. C)Determine the volume, number of faces, number of edges, and number of vertices of each model. 1. 2.3. 4.5. 6. Name: ____________________________________ Volume: _______ _______ _______ _______ _______ _______ # of Faces: _______ _______ _______ _______ _______ _______

Shapes with Line Symmetry have a line or a fold that makes two reflecting parts. Looking at symmetrical sides, each point will have a corresponding reflection point on the other side. y x Strands: Geometry & Measurement Teaching: G. 9 & 10-Transformation of Shapes & Coordinate Geometry, Prior Knowledge: G. 8-Geometric Properties M.12 Physical Attributes (Graphing in all Quadrants)

1.Name the location of the vertices and endpoint that are labeled. Use ordered pairs. A____________, B__________ C____________, D _________ E____________, F__________ G____________, H__________ I _____________, J__________ 2. Reflect the half-a-house across the y axis and locate the vertices and endpoints in the reflected side. 3.The Y axis represents the Line of _____________________. 4.From the completed house find a triangle that is obtuse and outline it in red. 5.Find a rectangle in the completed picture that is congruent to one in the original picture and outline them both in green. 6.a. What is the perimeter of the completed door? ______ b. What is the area of the completed door? ________ c. Discuss how the perimeter and area of the completed door compare to the perimeter and area of the original door. _____________________________________ _____________________________________ y x v Name:______________________________ Coordinate Geometry, Geometric Properties, Transformations, Area, and Perimeter A B D C F E G H I J

It has been decided to make a geometric tree divided into squares and rectangles of red and green. It will be symmetrical. Shapes 1, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 11 will be green. The others will be red. 1. What is the area of each rectangle? ___________ 2. What is the total area of green? ___________ 3. What is the total area of red? ___________ 4. What is the perimeter of the entire tree? ___________ 5. What percent of the grid is colored? _______ 6. What percent is white? ____________ 7. What percent is red? __________ 8. What percent is green? ___________
