Forms of stimuli Poetry Artefacts: photographs, pictures, masks, props, costume, sculpture, objet d’art Music Play scripts Live theatre performance Television, films, DVDs and videos Newspaper and magazine articles Extracts from literary fiction and non-fiction The drama medium The use of costume The use of masks and/or make-up The use of sound and/or music The use of lighting The use of space and/or levels The use of set and/or props The use of movement, mime and gesture The use of voice The use of spoken language

Term 1 September – October Introduction to GCSE Drama workshops & MOCK DEVISED project November – December MOCK DEVISED project & 1000 words Controlled Assessment Term 2 January – February UNIT 2 Practical & Theory lessons February – April Term 3 April – June UNIT 1 Practical & Theory lessons June-July Year 11 Completion of all Controlled Assessments January – April UNIT 3 Performance Showcase

The GCSE UNIT 1: DRAMA EXPLORATION Overview of content
60 marks in total worth 30% of your final grade and completed by end of December of Year 11 Assessed by ECE Overview of content Devised exploration based upon a topic/theme/issue such as “The Art of Comedy” or “The Hillsborough Disaster” Overview of assessment six-hour practical exploration (40 marks) Documentary response (20 marks) 2000 words

The GCSE UNIT 2: EXPLORING PLAYTEXTS
60 marks worth 30% of your final grade and completed by end of December of Year 11 Assessed by ECE Overview of content A full and substantial play text chosen such as “Blood Brothers” or “The Woman in Black” Theatre visit and review as a member of the audience Overview of assessment six-hour practical exploration of the play text (30 marks) Documentary response to practical exploration (10 marks) 1000 words Documentary response to live theatre (20 marks) 2000 words

UNIT 3: DRAMA PERFORMANCE 80 marks worth 40% of your final grade Assessed by an external examiner Overview of content Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of practical drama skills through their application in a live performance Communicate to an audience Overview of assessment Students will present their work as performers in a single performance to an examiner appointed by Edexcel and will be marked on: Voice and movement (20 marks) Roles and characterisation (20 marks) Communication (20 marks) Content, style and form (20 marks)
