2 Intel ISEF Educator Academy Intel ® Education Programs High Level Goals –Long term goals –Introduce and sustain School-based Science Fair programs over the next five years –Expand the sponsorship and fund base by 50% over the next 5 years –Raise State and Federal Government commitment to Science Fair Programs –Increase the number of students participating in science fairs by 100% within a 3 year period –Short term goals –Capacity building for Science Teachers/STEM facilitators – Enlarge existing pool of mentors –Assist states in starting a state/regional science fair program –Increase visibility/popularization of science fair activities through campaigns, advocacies amd media partnership. 2

3 Intel ISEF Educator Academy Intel ® Education Programs 3 Objectives –5 functional school-based Science fairs over the next 3 years –Generate a register of mentors/volunteers with a targeted increase of 10% annually –At least one major media partner brought on board within the next 12 to 18 months –3000 teachers trained on STEM/Science Fair related issues over the next 3 years –State and Federal Governments commits dedicated desk officers to Science Fair Activities, increase financial and material support and foster policy- directed participation of schools in science fairs –3 state-based Science Fair programs to be established over the next 12 months –Get on board at least 3 sponsors/partners over the next one year with total additional support not below 5million naira –Student participation in Science Fairs to increase 100% over the next 5 years

This is crucial in getting both government buy-in as well as attracting school participation and corporate sponsorship Which Shop Talks were the most beneficial for your team? -Designing a Science Fair Evaluation Strategy: The European model, by Dr. Agueda Gras- Velazquez from Belgium. What would you improve? –Relationship amongst partners/sponsors, Government and media relations and training/expansion strategies What types of Shop Talks were missing?- More content on the challenges and prospects of new and emerging fairs would be appreciated
