3. What is Newsela? To insert a video Click on the video/movie icon.
Search YouTube for “What is Newsela?”
Click on the video with the thumbs up and then click “Insert”
Resize the video by dragging a corner of the video box.
*Note: this video pronounces the name wrong, but it’s still a fast video introduction.

4. Join Our Class! To insert an image from a website:
Open the webpage you want to use for your picture
In PowerPoint, click on content box and then click on the Insert tab and then on Screenshot
Click on the picture of the webpage you want to use.
Click and drag a corner of the picture box to resize the image.
Do more! To link the image to a webpage:
Right-click on the image and select Hyperlink
Copy and paste the website address, or type it (note: must use complete address, including if applicable)
*These same steps can be used for inserting a link in text (first select the text, then right- click and select Hyperlink)

5. Join Our Class! Do even more! To add a drawing to your picture:
Click Insert and then Shapes and then on the circle.
Draw a circle over the area in the picture where students need to click to sign up.
While the shape is still selected, change the Shape Fill to transparent and the Shape Outline to red; click on Shape Outline again to change the weight to 6.

To record your voice narrating this slide:
Click on the Insert tab and then on Audio and select Record Audio (note: you must have an internal or external mic with your computer)
Click the red record button to start speaking (practice by reading the text on the right side)
Click the blue stop button when you are finished.
Click the blue triangle button to preview the audio.
Click OK to insert the audio into your slide.
