2. Principal investigator (PI) must: Be a Registered Nurse Have a BSN or higher Nursing degree Beginning and experienced nurse researchers are eligible – some grants require specific experience Master’s thesis, DNP scholarly project, or doctoral dissertation research will be considered only if project has been approved by committee Next Cycle: Electronic Submission: Feb 1 - May 1, 2015 CANS grant 2014 will be awarded 9/1/14 IRB or institutional animal care and use committee approval required before release of funds

4. To support improving the quality of care provided in clinical settings and the integral role nurses play in designing better care, the American Nurses Foundation will expand the program to include funding for studies of systematic, data-guided activities designed to bring about improvement in healthcare delivery. The Foundation will award two (2) $5,000 grants to beginning researchers and two (2) $10,000 grants to experienced researchers, with one of each to be awarded to a clinical researcher at a Magnet facility.
