Proposition 98 Governor’s Budget is good beginning Senate feedback: May be the best K-14 education can expect $1 billion in new Proposition 98 $$$ to be diverted to other purposes [e.g. child care, employment programs]

SB 191-Block Good author Passed Senate Education committee on unanimous vote Assembly issues: Charter school issue Currently not priority

Legislation Dynamic process, not static Bills must go through 4 committees If pass, goes to Governor Each stage requires new round of advocacy to new players in the game For this reason, don’t be surprised called upon to advocate at each or at specific stages of process Final deadline: October 11
