3. Genesis of the project

4. Any person can find himself become non-verbal at sometime in his life, such as: persons with non-verbal disabilities, brain injured, or even tourists or business men visiting a country using a language foreign to them.

5. Around 15% of the world’s population has been identified with some type of disability (WHO, 2012). This percentage is estimated to rise to 32% by the year 2026. Non-Verbal persons, non-Arabic speakers, persons with disabilities or brain injury, can become isolated because of their difficulty in communicating with others.

6. Our Idea is developing, using assistive technology, a mobile application that can be used to help Non Verbal Persons to communicate with others rather than using body gestures.

7. Picture Exchange Communication System (PECs)

8. PECS was developed in 1985 as a unique augmentative/alternative communication intervention package for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related developmental disabilities.
