Sense A sad, lonely, confused person. Not much going on in the poem Barely doing anything A strong negative word “Dead” “Grief” -the only direct sense of depression in the whole poem.

Imagery My knees my forehead was, My lips, drawn in, said not Alas! My hair was over in the grass, My naked ears heard the day pass.

Figurative language In the first stanza, there is repetition of the word 'wind' in line 1 and 3, this is showing the repetition of the trees swaying from side to side. There is personification in stanza 2 and 3, and the things he says make it seem like he's losing control of himself because he's so distraught.
