The Tutsis & The Hutus  -Rwanda was split into parts: the Tutsis and Hutus  -Colonial administration put Tutsis into a position of dominance therefore they were in charge and had more power  -When a Hutu leader was killed the Hutus overthrew the Tutsis  -Hutus began murdering the Tutsis and any surpporters

3. The Help  - France and Belgium were the former colonial power in Rwanda  - They sent troops to help control the slaughter  - The UN sent in peacekeepers as well  - Canadian Lieutenant General Romeo Dallaire with the UN, had a military plan

4. Romeo Dallaire  - Sent military plans to the UN which outlined a plan to stop killing in Rwanda  - His plan required: the speed and support of the USA, who could support a lot of troops in a short amount of time  - US was unenthusiastic  - Dallaire felt helpless

5. How it was resolved  - International leader finally spoke up about their dispproval  - Only made them change their tactics and not their ultimate goal  - Between 500,000 to 1 million casualties from the genocide  - Was never fully resolved
