Articles of Confederation 1.What is it? The United States’ first constitution A constitution is a set of rules for the government and its citizens

Articles of Confederation 2. When were the Articles created? The Articles were created during the Revolutionary War, in 1777, after the Second Continental Congress declared Independence. Approved by all 13 states by 1781.

Articles of Confederation 3. Who became in control of the national government? The “Confederation Congress” Confederation means “united in a league” (like friends). Supportive of each other, but independent too.

Summary/Closing The Founding Fathers created a government through the Articles that had good ideas, but it had weaknesses as well. It only worked for 10 years.
