CURRENT RECORDING PRACTICE Recital is recorded directly to CD CD is ripped to computer for tracking Three copies are made One copy is given to the students Two copies for archival and circulating practices

MOVING FORWARD What initiated this discussion? Preservation Digitization of recital programs Possibly linking audio to digitized programs Move of other resources and institutes towards streaming

PROPOSED DIGITIZATION Record recital in WAV format Metadata is added and tracks notated in real time MP3 created, and both files uploaded to Box

PROPOSED DIGITIZATION WAV file moved to preservation server MP3 moved to ContentDM Student worker adds metadata Work is quality controlled and released

IMPACT ON LIBRARY END Storage cost is minimal Already have an existing infrastructure capable of supporting the desired formats Current proposal calls for ContentDM platform Dublin Core Discoverable via federated search
